Write and produce your music

Join our interactive and engaging music production classroom. You will learn how to make a song through understanding and practising song writing, production & recording, as well as gaining insight into how to market your music and yourself as a musician! Take this course if you have an interest in poetry, song writing, music, music marketing, and music technology. You don’t have to be a musician, as long as you love music and are ready to dig into how to make it! In this course, you will also have an opportunity to interact with and learn from professional industry musicians and producers, who will join as guest faculty and share their industry experience with you.

Who should take this course?

Anyone with an interest in poetry, songwriting, musical instruments, performing for a live audience, music marketing, and music technology will benefit from taking this course. You don’t have to be a musician to take this class, as long as you love music and are ready to dig into making it yourself. Any skills with instruments, interest in singing, and passion for music is a big plus!

 

What does the usual daily class looks like?

The class setting provides opportunity for each student to interact, collaborate and engage with one another. A combination of activities, exercises and presentations in the classroom, allows students to immerse themselves to learn through the experience, but also have fun at the same time. Students in the past have mentioned how our classroom environment has really helped them in opening up and making friends along with learning something new daily.

 

How will participants be different when they’ve completed this course? What skills or knowledge will they have gained?

At the end of this course, students will be able to create songs from scratch, writing their own lyrics, and creating electronic arrangements for them. They will get comfortable in a recording studio environment, get familiar with terms and the use of the technology, and with the digital recording software. They will have the knowledge and ability to record instruments and voices, to make professional quality recordings. We’ll even cover how the music industry works, and how song writers get paid in this digital era.

Aditya Manral

Aditya Manral

Ady is a songwriter and musician who leads the music production programs at Summer at Woodstock. His acoustic-based music has been featured in various publications, including Rolling Stone India. Ady has performed live at venues across the globe, including renowned music festivals in India such as the Ziro Festival. He is signed and represented by the UK publishing company Chelsea Songs Ltd. A highlight of his career was being shortlisted for a nationwide singer-songwriter competition organized by the clothing brand Numero Uno. In addition to his musical pursuits, he currently serves as the Alumni Relations Manager at Woodstock School.
