25 May Excellence in music
“The music department would like to congratulate all of the students for their success through hard work and preparation” announced Mr Ravi Arthur at this morning’s senior assembly. Forty five students undertook various grade level examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Performance that was held on the weekend of November 14-16 2011.
The examination results were outstanding with Mok Young Kim (Grade 11) receiving a Diploma ABRSM in piano performance and Ye Jin Kim (also Grade 11) who received Distinctions in both Grade 8 Piano and Grade 6 Violin. Woodstock’s music department focuses on the individual to reach their full potential nurturing self- esteem, resilience and confidence in their musical abilities. Music students at Woodstock, work co-operatively with their teachers in a stimulating and rewarding environment with student recitals beginning this week on Wednesdays and continuing each week until they culminate in the Senior Recital on May 31.
The 2011 music recital celebrated the success of a vibrant and active community reflected through the talent of both the students and teachers and was left in awe of the performances We congratulate the amazing array of musical talent our students have exhibited and recognise our wonderful music teachers and the spirit with which they encourage each of their students to be engaged, challenged and always to reach their full musical potential.
We eagerly await the senior music recital this coming semester.
