Woodstock School has temporarily closed its campus. This is a precautionary measure and at present there are no known or suspected cases of COVID-19 within the Woodstock community. Students will continue to be educated remotely until it is safe and responsible to invite them to return to campus.

This has not been an easy decision to make. A huge part of the Woodstock educational experience is social, and we do not underestimate the value of being together in person. We made this decision after consulting with a number of medical experts, WHO officials, parents, and colleagues at schools and colleges internationally. We have also taken into account the actions of governments in India and around the world as they act to contain the spread of the coronavirus. After our decision, the Uttarakhand Government announced the temporary closure of all schools in the state.

Students for whom it is unsafe or impractical to return home, for example those from COVID-19 hotspots or conflict-affected regions, are being provided with safe accommodation.

We have been guided by our commitment to the health of our school community, our responsibility as part of the wider Mussoorie community, and most importantly, by our duty of care to our students. Our COVID-19 Task Force will continue meet regularly to provide updates to our risk assessment, and monitor the situation locally and internationally. We are in communication with the Medical Authorities in India for both advice and reporting, and are following advice from sources including WHO, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Boarding School Association (BSA).
