Over the last few days, the Quad has been bustling with students flocking to not one but two science fairs.

 

On Friday 12 May, Grades 3 and 4 invited early and middle years students to join them for a colourful display of science in practice. The exhibits included magic multi-coloured milk, a candle see-saw and a rainbow jar. There were also home-made lava lamps, walking water which changed colour as it moved from cup to cup, and oobleck, a non-Newtonian fluid which changes between solid and liquid depending on the amount of pressure exerted upon it.

On Tuesday, middle years had the opportunity to exhibit their science projects. These encompassed a vast range of exploration of different areas, from nutrition to renewable energy generation. Some students had even created water-pressure powered rockets that had reached heights of over twenty metres when fired from Hanson Field.
